That's about what common date PR eagles are going for now, so fair deal.

thanks.....I did some research online and found prices for the 1986 from about 45 to 150. pretty big gap. what are the uncommon dated pfs?

'93 thru '97 are the least common. I think '94 is the key. lemme dig up mintages. go here: http://silvereagleguide.com/mintages/

So they made some proofs at a mint other than West Point in 1995? Those seem like the ones to have. Though I am pretty happy with the 2008 I picked up for $13 during the summer. :111:

THe '95-W is the one to have, now and likely forevermore.

2010 redbook lists it for $45, so that sounds about right. I have one in original mint packaging, and they are very nice coins, even more so because 86 was the first year they made them.

All PR ASE's were minted at sanfran til '93, moved to Phil 'til '01 (save for the '95-W), and have been at WestP ever since.

Do you really use the Red Book as a price guide? IMO it's good for mintage's and info, it's only printed once a year how can it be any use except as a text? :signs14:

I keep copies of both Blue Book and Red Book. Blue Book is annoying because it doesn't have the same spec info as Red Book does, and I also can't find it in color.

Numismatics don't fluctuate as wildly as bullion does, so unless something incredibly dramatic happens in the metals market, yes the red book is a good gauge for general numismatic value. The current PCGS price guide online lists a Proof 69 1986 ASE at $50, so it's all in the ballpark.
